XRCC1 and ADPRT Polymorphisms and Risk of Noncardia Gastric Cancer in Chinese

چکیده
Gastric cancer (GC) is the sixth most commonly diagnosed malignancy and the third leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide (Ferlay et al., 2010). The highest incidence rates are noted in Japan, Eastern Asia, Andean regions of South America and Eastern Europe, whereas the lowest are observed in North and East Africa, Northern Europe and North America (Ferlay et al., 2010). Incidence rates for GC have declined steadily in several western countries, and similar declining trends have been witnessed only in more recent years in countries with historically high GC incidence including Japan, China, Korea, Columbia, Ecuador, Ukraine, and Russia (Bertuccio et al., 2009). However, while the incidence of noncardia GC has declined in most countries, the rates of cardia GC has remained stable, or have risen in several European countries, Japan and North America (Gonzalez et al., 2012). In China, GC is one of the most common

The Association Between C194T and G399A Polymorphism of XRCC1 Gene and Susceptibility to Gastric Cancer in the People Living in the Western Part of Iran
Background: Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignancies in the world. It may result from a defect in the genes involved in DNA repair. One of the essential genes in the repair pathway is the XRCC1 gene that its polymorphisms in the human population play a role in gastric cancer susceptibility. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the association of 194C/T and 399G/A polym...
متن کاملAssociation between polymorphisms in DNA base excision repair genes XRCC1, APE1, and ADPRT and differentiated thyroid carcinoma.
PURPOSE DNA BER pathway is related with carcinogenesis. We hypothesized that functional polymorphisms of three BER genes, XRCC1, apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease (APE1), and ADPRT, confer risks for DTC and its progression. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN Five common nonsynonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms (Arg194Trp, Arg280His, and Arg399Gln for XRCC1; Asp148Glu for APE1; and Val762Ala for ADPRT)...

Adenosine diphosphate ribosyl transferase (ADPRT) and X-ray repair cross-complementing 1 (XRCC1) are two major base excision repair (BER) proteins and act cooperatively in the BER processes. Polymorphisms of ADPRT Val762Ala and XRCC1 Arg399Gln may alter their protein functions and BER activity, and were therefore hypothesized to be associated with breast cancer susceptibility. We examined the c...
متن کاملPolymorphisms in DNA base excision repair genes ADPRT and XRCC1 and risk of lung cancer.
Adenosine diphosphate ribosyl transferase (ADPRT) and X-ray repair cross-complementing 1 (XRCC1) are two major DNA base excision repair (BER) proteins and act interactively in stimulating and executing BER processes. Polymorphisms of ADPRT Val762Ala and XRCC1 Arg399Gln have been associated with altered protein function and BER activity. This case-control study examined the contribution of these...
متن کاملXRCC1 and ADPRT polymorphisms associated with survival in breast cancer cases treated with chemotherapy.
AIM To investigate whether XRCC1 and ADPRT polymorphisms might be associated with outcomes of breast cancer. METHODS A prospective study was conducted with a total of 335 breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy consecutively collected from Jan. 2005 to Jan. 2008. Genotyping of XRCC1 and ADPRT polymorphisms was conducted by PCR-RFLP assay. RESULTS All 335 patients were followed up unt...
